From getting started to entry, fixed expenses, income, reports, sharing, and settings
1. Getting started
1-1. Sign up and log in
Open the ledger address in a web browser (Safari, Chrome, etc).
First time? Sign up with an email and password. A ledger of your own is created automatically.
Already signed up? Log in with the same email and password.
๐ก Log in with the same account on your phone and computer to see and log to the same ledger from both.
1-2. Add to your home screen
No app store needed โ add an icon to your home screen to open it instantly like a native app.
iPhone (Safari): follow the prompt at the bottom of the login screen, tap the share button, then choose "Add to Home Screen."
Android (Chrome): tap the install prompt shown on screen to add it immediately.
If you're on an iPhone using Chrome, Apple's policy doesn't allow adding to the home screen from Chrome. Follow the on-screen prompt to copy the address, paste it into Safari, and add it from there.
2. Screen overview
Five tabs sit along the bottom of the screen.
Entry
Quickly log what you spent (or earned) today. The screen you'll use most.
Fixed
Manage recurring monthly costs like rent or insurance.
Income
Manage recurring income (like a paycheck), other income, and currency exchanges.
History
View every transaction you have logged, as a calendar or a list.
Report
Pick any period to see currency totals and category breakdowns, and export to Excel, PDF, or email.
A label at the top โ "Solo" or "Shared (N)" โ always shows whether you're currently logging alone or with others.
3. Entry โ logging a transaction
Choose whether it is an expense or income.
Pick a currency (this step only appears if you have 2 or more currencies selected in Settings).
Enter the amount.
Choose a category โ pick the top category first, then go deeper into subcategory and sub-subcategory if needed.
Check or change the date (defaults to today).
Add a memo if you like, and attach a receipt photo.
Toggle "Business" if this is a work expense (hidden if turned off in Settings).
Tap Save โ that's it.
๐ก After saving, the currency and category stay selected, so logging several similar expenses in a row is fast.
4. History โ view, edit, and delete
Switch between list and calendar views. Tap any transaction to open the edit screen, where you can change its details or delete it.
๐ก Deleting cannot be undone. A confirmation prompt appears before anything is removed.
5. Fixed expenses โ recurring monthly costs
For costs like rent or insurance that go out around the same day each month for a similar amount, set it up once and it appears automatically every month.
Tap "Add fixed expense" on the Fixed tab.
Enter the currency, amount, category, a memo, and which day of the month it goes out.
Turn on Business if it is a work expense.
Save it, and it applies automatically starting this month.
If the amount changes โ open the item and save with "Apply from this month" โ only this month onward uses the new amount, and past records stay untouched.
If it no longer applies โ tap "Stop after this month" to stop it from appearing automatically (past records are not deleted).
The total fixed cost for the month, by currency, is shown at the top. Items marked Business are always grouped separately at the bottom, below a "Business" divider.
6. Income โ recurring, other, and exchanges
6-1. Recurring income
Set up something like a monthly paycheck once, the same way as a fixed expense, and it appears automatically every month.
6-2. Other income
Log one-off income as it comes in, using "Add income."
6-3. Currency exchange
When you convert one currency to another, use "Record an exchange" to enter the currency and amount sent, and the currency and amount received. The source currency balance goes down and the target goes up, reflected accurately in your report.
๐ก Deleting an exchange record reverts both currencies to their original state. Both the recurring and other income lists are sorted by date.
7. Report โ currency summaries and export
Choose This month, Last month, or All, or use the "Period" button to pick a specific month or a custom date range.
Choose Combined or Split to decide whether personal and business expenses appear together or separately (this choice is hidden entirely if business tracking is turned off in Settings).
Cards for total spent, total income, and balance appear per currency. Tap "Show breakdown" to expand category-level detail.
Export
Excel โ download a spreadsheet-style file.
PDF โ download a print/archive-ready PDF (depending on your environment it may save as HTML โ open it and use Print โ Save as PDF).
Email โ enter a recipient's address and your mail app opens with a summary. To send the Excel or PDF too, download it first and attach it manually.
8. Settings
8-1. Categories
Build and rename categories across 3 levels โ top, sub, and sub-sub. Tap a name to rename it; deleting a category keeps any transactions already logged under it.
8-2. Show business option
Turns the "Business" checkbox (shown in Entry and Fixed) and the Combined/Split choice (in Report) on or off. If you don't need to separate work expenses, turning this off simplifies the screens. Past records already marked Business stay marked even if you turn this off.
8-3. Profile
Set your display name โ the name others see in a shared ledger.
8-4. Currencies
Choose 1 to 4 currencies for the ledger. With just one selected, the currency-picker step disappears from the entry screen for faster logging.
8-5. Language
Choose between Korean, English, and Spanish.
8-6. User Manual
This screen, right here. Reopen it anytime from Settings.
8-7. Data
Export (JSON) โ download all your records as a backup file.
Auto monthly email โ automatically sends a report on the 1st of each month; currently coming soon.
Reset all โ deletes every record in this ledger. This cannot be undone โ use with care. In a shared ledger, this also deletes every other member's records, so be especially careful.
9. Sharing โ collaborate with family or travel companions
One invite code lets several people view and log to the same ledger at once. Every member has equal access.
9-1. Inviting someone
Open Settings โ "Share & collaborate."
Send the 6-character invite code shown on screen to whoever you want to share with (use the "Copy code" button).
9-2. Joining with a code
The invited person signs up (or logs in) to the app first.
In Settings โ "Share & collaborate," they enter the 6-character code and tap "Join with code."
Someone already using their own ledger can join too โ their original ledger stays intact, and they can freely switch between ledgers from the same screen via "My ledgers."
9-3. Removing or leaving
Only the ledger's original owner can remove other members. Any non-owner member can leave at any time (the owner cannot leave their own ledger). If a member leaves, the records they logged remain in the ledger.
10. Receipts โ capture, store, and download
Tap "Scan or attach receipt" on the Entry screen.
Take a photo or pick one from your album โ it is automatically compressed and saved.
Open that transaction from History to view the attached receipt again, and use the download button to save the original photo.
๐ก Receipts are stored securely in the cloud, so they look the same when you log in from another device.
11. Frequently asked questions
Can I use this offline?
An internet connection is needed to save records and sync with other members.
I deleted something by mistake โ can I recover it?
Deletion cannot be undone. We recommend periodically backing up via Settings โ "Export (JSON)."
I see a "Database connection failed" banner at the top.
Check your internet connection and refresh. Anything entered in this state isn't saved โ re-enter it once the banner disappears.
How do I turn on automatic monthly emails?
This feature is currently coming soon. For now, use "Send by email" on the Report screen to send manually.
I don't see the Business toggle anymore.
If Settings โ "Show business option" is turned off, related fields are hidden from Entry and Report. Turn it back on to bring them back.
